What do you see as the three top issues facing Bonney Lake?
1. Long term financial stability, essential service funding such as police is a priority.
2. Ensuring development pays for new additional improvements, improvements are need in many intersections and roadways, also pedestrians need connective paths and improvements in roadways.
3. Capturing grants and other funding sources so that local tax payers do not have to fund 100% of needed improvements, recently Bonney Lake has captured over 2 million dollars in federal funding.
What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
Funding primary services comes before nice to have items. Reduction in spending must match reduced revenues. The City must have a balanced budget; looking long term is the key to understanding where the trends are headed. Smart use of funds today means less will have to be spent in the future. Reducing costs to ratepayers is a priority.
Why are you the best candidate for this office?
I have the most knowledge of city operations, I possess proven skills to get things done and I have the ability to engage everyone in the legislative process. My peers have recognized these skills and have elected me Deputy Mayor several times. I already have relationships with local and regional officials which I use to achieve results.
Personal Statement:
I will work to ensure that the beauty and livability of Bonney Lake continues. Difficult times for all require highly accountable and transparent government. I will continue advocating reductions in utility rates and reduce the cost of government without compromising current city services. Providing primary functions such as police come first over non-essential expenditures. I will continue to work toward increasing sidewalks, trail networks, open-space and maintaining recreational levels in Lake Tapps.
