My area of study was pre-med, and although I have more than four years of college, I have not completed my bachelors degree.

What do you see as the three top issues facing Buckley?
1. Economic development and sustainability. 2. How to continue to provide essential services like police and fire at historic service levels during this economic downturn. 3. Securing our water rights and planning for the future needs.

What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
I think Buckley has done a very good job of living within its means. During my six years of City service, I have seen the commitment of staff and elected officials to try to keep the level of service standards up and costs down. We have already changed work schedules to four-tens where we could, and I would support furloughs if necessary. We already operate with a small staff so further cuts would be difficult.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?
I am very dedicated, thorough, and well prepared for council meetings. I work to ensure that decisions are based on what's best for residents of the City, and that those decisions follow our comprehensive plan that was developed with input from our citizens. I was born and raised here and I am an active member of our community. I work very hard to support our fire and police departments, and our youth and senior citizens.

Personal Statement:
I really enjoy my work as a city council member. I work hard to be well prepared and thorough. I base my decisions on what I think is best for the city as a whole. I will continue to encourage economic development and continue planning for growth while listening to the ideas and concerns the community expresses. I will strive to be fiscally responsible and will encourage and assist in grant searches.

Education: BS Mining Engineering, University of Washington, 1959 - Various short courses in areas of interest including business

What do you see as the three top issues facing Buckley?
1) A City Council that does not recognize they represent the citizens of the city. 2) Minimal, if any, oversight of the various departments of the city which creates a transparency issue. 3) Spending priorities with an overuse of consultants a failure to accomplish a legitimate work output for funds expended.

What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
1) Responsibility Consolidation which might include manpower reduction 2) An oversight of expenditures including the necessity for those expenditures & the accomplishment attained. 3) The City Council needs to set policy to ensure the functions of the city are accomplished in an efficient manner with waste of resources held to a minimum.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?
1) I would not act as a "Rubber Stamp" for this administration. 2) I have experience & knowledge in areas applicable to city operations that are not available on the council. 3) I do not suffer from "money illusion" when spending other people's money.

Personal Statement:
I have attended City Council meetings, committees, retreats & various other functions of city government for over 10 years. There have been a series of meetings with the current mayor suggesting ways to improve operations in this city. Nothing is happening except costs are going up! The city is less transparent than it was five years ago, Information is hard to get, Knowledgeable citizens are discouraged &/or ignored. That needs to stop!!!
