What do you see as the three top issues facing the district?
Quality of curriculum needs to be improved and teach facts and not fiction such as Al Gores book used as fact for science class.
Poor funding from state, we must stop accepting unfunded mandates from state or federal government and demand full funding.
We must end the WASL and teaching to the WASL. Teachers are better qualified to design test for their class and fail those not passing.
School board must exert local control.
What measures would you support to keep the district living within its means?
1. Reduction of administration staffing. Even the current board hnd superintendent if you could believe them have reported 20 to 30 percent overage.
2. Reduction of superintendent pay until Bethel makes yearly progress. Bethel has failed all 7 years that the current superintendent has been here.
3. Have all department reduce budget in real dollars by 10 percent. Fire Department was capable so Bethel is also.
4. Stop un-funded mandates that require money.
What more should the district do to improve student achievement?
1. Allow teachers to teach.
2. Objective curriculum that requires math, English, science, history all 4 years then electives.
3. End feel good subjects, and books that do not teach the truth, and facts.
4. Stop lying to the parents about quality of education
5. Fail any student that is not performing according to the teacher, whom does not attend class or fails do their work. It is teacher responsibility to teach subject.
Personal Statement:
I have lived in the Bethel district for 20 years and in area for 30 years.
Married to a wonderful women for 42 years. Graduated 2 children from Bethel district. Well liked and trusted by students, parents, democrats, republican and independent thinking teachers even if we do always agree.
I believe that Bethel can be in the top of districts instead of in the bottom 1/3. I want your vote and support for change.
