What do you see as the three top issues facing the district?
1.) Balancing the district's budget, as over the past few years the WRSD has been on the cusp of financial ruin due to sever factors, declining student enrollment, lack of fiscal responsibility, and state wide budgetary shortcomings. 2.) Raising overall student standardized testing performance. 3.) The district needs to open their ears to the voices of faculty and community. They have a history of dictating what their goals are and not responding to constructive input.

What measures would you support to keep the district living within its means?
1.) Has the District thought about selling property they own for expansion but currently aren't using? 2.) Are there more grants that the District could be qualifying for? We as a community could come together to work to achieve more qualified money for our students.

What more should the district do to improve student achievement?
1.) At the primary level the district needs too teach the basics. Placing more focus on the fundamentals of reading, writing and simple arithmetic. 2.) The district needs to stop closing and combining top performing schools. The district closed and combined 2 schools in the 08-09 calendar year. Even though this was a budgetary cost savings, will it help to improve student achievement?

Personal Statement:
Four of our five children are enrolled in the WRSD. Our oldest son is developmentally delayed, and in GMS's self-contained classroom. The responsibility of a School Board member is not only creating a successful environment for students, but to express the purpose, goals, and functions of local schools. The Board should be the foundation of the long-term plan and utilized for keeping the school system focused on a common purpose, thus leading to student success.
