What do you see as the three top issues facing Federal Way?
Public Safety quality has improved greatly in our City--this status will be maintained by working together with our neighborhoods and businesses through the Safe Cities program.
Economic Development is key, nurturing existing businesses, attracting new ones, toward a thriving, walkable downtown with a "town square"--including green space.
Traffic Solutions are needed to serve residents, commuters, shoppers, pedestrians, and cyclists: with sidewalks, bikelanes, streets east-west filling out the street grid to enhance traffic flow.
What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
Conservative, responsible budgeting--Federal Way consistently has among the lowest tax revenue per person of King County's 38 cities.
Efficient management, provision of services--2009 marks 15th straight year of clean audits by State Auditor.
Effective policies, for example, maintaining replacement reserves.
Collaboration regionally with other cities and government entities; for example: Valley Communications, planned South County jail.
Maximizing our resources through partnering with nonprofit organizations.
Public-private partnerships with businesses, local groups.
Encouraging volunteer efforts, citizen involvement.
Why are you the best candidate for this office?
I bring twelve years of dedicated leadership, planning, taking action: 37 Permitting Process improvements, Community Center enjoyed by all ages, well-maintained roads, improved public safety, healthy relationships with partners--Schools, South King Fire and Rescue, Lakehaven Utilities, Chamber of Commerce. My appointments to transportation boards provide Federal Way with a respected voice at regional/national levels where funding/policy decisions are made. Persistence and strong advocacy have brought needed transportation dollars and new funding to jump-start downtown development.
Personal Statement:
Serving our community is a great privilege. I have focused on providing the greatest value for our precious dollars. I have shown commitment to preserving the livability and character of our neighborhoods, protecting our unique natural environment, and creating jobs. Partnering with our non-profit organizations, we are strengthening the safety net for our most vulnerable. With the voters' support, I will continue to serve all of our residents with integrity, commitment and dedication.

What do you see as the three top issues facing Federal Way?
1. Business & Economical Development - we need to keep the companies from leaving and seek new opportunities.
2. Fiscal Responsibility - get better return on our investments and not waste citizen's money with "special interest" projects like the PAC.
3. Public Safety - our police force has done a tremendous job and I want to help them build on this past years success.
What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
We need to do a better job of making hard decisions. While I believe in due diligence, waffling on decisions because of some minor objections doesn't make sense to me. Between our Freeway Access Project, the City Manager position, and ongoing street upgrades on 320th St., we have wasted a few million tax-payer dollars.
With some of the talented leaders in FW, we can increase Volunteerism to help off-set some internal cost.
Why are you the best candidate for this office?
First, I am not a professional politician and I don't serve on multiple regional committees. Therefore I can focus on Federal Way.
Second, being fiscally conservation give me an understanding on how to maintain a balanced budget and to have oversight over important projects.
Third, I know the how to balance "leading and serving" within the community. We have some amazing leadership in Federal Way and I will tap into those resources.
Personal Statement:
It is imperative that we have a City Council that is preserving the needs and desires of the majority within Federal Way. Being collaborative with the other counsel members to manage through some continued tough economic times with be a major focus of mine as we strive to accomplish the city's vision.
