What do you see as the three top issues facing the district?
1. Curriculum Alignment.
2. Communication
3. All staff working for the "students" best interest, not just a paycheck.
What measures would you support to keep the district living within its means?
Asking all staff to take a cut in pay.
We cannot afford to lose additional staff if finances become an issue. We are barebones now and I truly hope all who work here for the good of all would be willing to take a pay cut to save EVERY JOB within our district. I would also ask students to "pay to play."
What more should the district do to improve student achievement?
The district has a strategic plan to make the system of education work better this year than ever before. It starts at the Administration level to keep the teachers accountable to teach. It takes communication across all grade levels to be comfortable with one another. Let's give students a passion for learning and achievement will follow.
Personal Statement:
Students are my priority. I know some personnel are upset because I vote for new curriculum rather than pay raises. I am not sorry for this and I will continue to keep the students interest first not the unions. I want students to be proud of their Orting heritage on graduation night. I believe in this community and I believe we make a difference. Thank you for this opportunity.
