The Town Center project is on its fourth potential developer, and it has progressed in spurts. Should the city move forward with the project and if so, should it continue down the path it has taken?
We started off right and the Town Center plan was the result of forward thinking. Unfortunately, council became distracted from city business and started dabbling in development. We must turn everything over to the private sector ASAP and sell those parcels. Then streamline the permits process and eliminate red tape to expedite completion. My keen business sense, real estate experience, and strong negotiation skills will be invaluable to our council these next four years.

With two national golf tournaments coming to Chambers Bay Golf Course - including the 2015 U.S. Open - how can the city capitalize on the visitors to University Place? How should the city prepare for the influx of people from a traffic and public works st
I will take advantage of every opportunity to keep tourists in UP and spending money here. A hotel and wide variety of restaurants are important. We must also promote our city's activities and attractions that appeal to tourists to extend their stay. The USGA provides all security and traffic control for the Open. University Place is already partnering with Pierce County to handle the security and traffic control for next year's amateur event.

The City Council recently allowed volunteers to save the Curran Apple Orchard house. Do you agree with that decision, and what should the city do with its other historic properties that are endangered?
University Place is a city that we can all be proud of. We have some unique and historical features that are worth preserving. I supported the CHIPS movement and I applaud the council for making a good decision. I would like to see a UP historical society formed that could partner with our city to save and restore more of these little treasures that would otherwise be lost forever.

Personal Statement:
It's time we build a better council. We don't need more of the same. If we want better results we must cast a wider net and allow diverse viewpoints at the table. Elect me because I bring new skills, diverse experience, and fresh perspective that aren't already represented on our council. Albert Einstein said "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." Vote Rose Ehart... Because it's time.

The Town Center project is on its fourth potential developer, and it has progressed in spurts. Should the city move forward with the project and if so, should it continue down the path it has taken?
UP must move forward with TC. Even though the initial mistakes were quite costly; we must re-establish good/services in this sector of town and decrease the interest debt in TC. The plan to parcel off the project will need to have tight controls over design standards and identify a regional draw/customer base. With various developers, I personally believe that this will be difficult and keep UP in the development of TC longer than was necessary.

UP needs to focus on developing a plan of action with the local cities, county and Chambers Bay to provide the right mix of volunteer/paid staff to prepare our community/infrastructure for this large event to include monetary support. Plus, the city needs to meet and partner with our business community in order to prepare them to compliment the action plan with goods and services that should include shopping, shuttle services, parking and police traffic control.

The City Council recently allowed volunteers to save the Curran Apple Orchard house. Do you agree with that decision, and what should the city do with its other historic properties that are endangered?
I am a member of this hard working committee to save a prime example of a mid-century modern design by a well-known architect. Historic preservation is an essential element in maintaining the heart of the community. By the very essence of the act of valuing past history you transcend these community's values to the present life. It becomes a direct reflection of a community's self worth. Yes, we do have other buildings for historic preservation.
