What do you see as the three top issues facing Ruston?
1.Decaying Infrastructure- our sewer system is 100 years old, is failing and desperately needs replaced. We are working with pursuing a 40 year loan from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
2.Balancing Our Budget-analyze our revenue base, develop a plan to promote businesses in our community and review our current sales tax base on utilities.
3.Develop a five year plan that is a win for the community and a win for developers.
What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
Review of utility sales taxes. Ruston currently does not have utility sales taxes in place. These sales taxes go directly to the general budget and would help to balance our budget.
Why are you the best candidate for this office?
Thirty five years working for JCPenney in seven different states in a variety of management positions, entry level management (Management Trainee) to senior management (Regional Sales Manager, Southwest Region).I have expertise in managing budgets, people shills and controlling cost.
Personal Statement:
The smallness of our Town makes us a unique community. The next 4 years are important for the Town of Ruston when it comes to development and survival. I favor maintaining Ruston's independence. With skillful budgeting and watching the expenditures over this next four years we can make that happen. Ruston is a wonderful place to live, we have great people in our community and I want to help keep it that way.
