Occupation: Firefighter

What do you see as the three top issues facing DuPont?
The three top issues that have been brought to my attention by Citizens are: lack of leadership and management, there is no plan or direction for DuPont's future, and Dupont's broken Fire Department.

What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
I'd like a full evaluation of all city departments: levels of service, staffing, efficiencies, workloads, etc. comparing ourselves to cities of similar size. The results would lay the ground work and foundation for our City's future, and would educate the citizens about what the city needs to function and sustain appropriate levels of service. This evaluation would be a great starting point for forecasting: near term, short term and long term, for all departments.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?
As a concerned citizen I've chosen to get involved. I will openly listen to all sides of a situation, and help expedite an issue to a positive outcome. I will represent the citizens as a fiscally responsible council member with a focus on sustainability. We need open-minded, logical council members who listen to the citizens and take responsibility for their actions. I am that person. Thank you in advance for your support.

Personal Statement:
The purpose of City Government is to provide a safe, healthy environment to live in. I vow to be the Voice of the People. The Citizens of DuPont are not being listened to. I want to bring YOUR issues to the table, not force MY issues on you. This is why our City is in a state of turmoil and mistrust. The final decision concerning an issue becomes clearer when all sides are discussed openly.

Experience: I served as chairman on the DuPont Park Agency, and in June, 2005 was appointed to the City Council. In November of 2005, I was elected to the City Council, and I presently serve as the City Liaison to the Steilacoom Historical School Board; the DuPont Planning Agency the DuPont Business Association; serve on the Tourism Board, and am the representative to the Pierce County Regional Council.

Education: Bachelor of Arts, Recreation, California State University - Fresno, 1968; Bachelor of Science, Social Science, California State University - Fresno, 1971; Master's Degree, Education, University of San Francisco, 1977; Administration Credential, Fresno Pacific College, 1980.

What do you see as the three top issues facing DuPont?
Communication between community and City Hall, public safety, and our downtown economy are the three top issues facing DuPont in my opinion.

What measures would you support to keep your city living within its means?
At present the City is operating within its means. We have not filled open positions in several departments. (We have a hiring freeze and will have a salary freeze). All departments have cut back 5% of their beginning of year budget. We are seeking new ways to gain revenue.

Why are you the best candidate for this office?
I have experience (served in this position since 2005), education (see degrees above) and accessibility (retired and able to be liaison to several different agencies). I am the best qualified candidate for Position 7 of the DuPont City Council.

Personal Statement:
The concerns of the DuPont citizens are my concerns. I am willing and able to continue to serve this community to the best of my ability, and strive to continue to help DuPont be the #1 City in the South Sound!
