Pedestrian Rail Deaths

Below is an interactive map that plots all pedestrian train fatalities that have occurred in Pierce and South King counties since Jan. 1, 1998. The information comes from a statewide database kept by the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission through May 2008, plus a few additional deaths found in News Tribune archives and a few others that happened since May.

To begin, select a point on the map to get more information or double-click on the map to zoom in on a particular region.

The large map doesn't show all 54 deaths. Some are hidden behind other points, but you can zoom in to find them. You can also use the arrows and zoom features at the top left corner of the map to navigate.

Detailed information on each incident will appear here.
